INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Office XP issues that are fixed in the description of the proofing tools for the Dutch version of Office XP post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package that is dated May 14, 2004.

Issues that are fixed in the hotfix package

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package but was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

When you recheck the spelling and the grammar in the Dutch version of Microsoft Word 2002, Word 2002 may quit unexpectedly and you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you view the details of the error message, you receive an error signature that is similar to the following:

To recheck the spelling and the grammar in a document in the Dutch version of Word 2002, follow these steps:
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. On the Spelling & Grammar tab, click Check Document.
3. Click Yes when you receive the following message:
  This operation resets the spelling checker and the grammar checker so that Word will recheck words and grammar you previously checked and chose to ignore. Do you want to continue?
4. Click OK to close the Options dialog box.
When you check the grammar in a document in the Dutch version of Word 2002 that contains a many fields, Word 2002 may appear to stop responding (hang). If you wait, Word 2002 becomes responsive again and you can continue to work in your Word 2002 document.

The optimized version of this hotfix is a post-Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) hotfix. To install the hotfix, you must have Office XP SP3 installed.

The optimized version of this hotfix requires Microsoft Windows Installer 2.0 or later.

The full-file version of this hotfix is also the administrative version of this hotfix. You can install this version of the hotfix with Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). However, Microsoft has not tested this fix on Office XP SP2 to the same extent as on Office XP Service Pack 3. If you install this hotfix on a computer with Office XP SP2 installed, some file conflicts might occur. Microsoft supports this configuration, but we do not recommend this configuration.
