When you rotate a Microsoft Office Word object that is embedded in
a Microsoft Office Visio drawing, the text appears only when the rotation
is at 90, 180, or 270 degrees. Otherwise, the text disappears until you rotate
the object to one of these settings or restore it to the original
position.
To work around this problem, follow these
steps.
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
- Start Visio.
- On the Tools menu, click
Options.
- On the Advanced tab, click to select the
Put all settings in Windows registry check box, and then click
OK.
- On the File menu, click
Exit to quit Visio, and then restart your computer.
- Click Start, and then click
Run.
- In the Run dialog box, type
regedit, and then click OK.
- In Registry Editor, locate and then select the following
registry entry:
2002
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Visio\Application\GpImageControl
2003
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application\GpImageControl
2007
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Visio\Application\GpImageControl
- On the Edit menu, click
Modify.
- In the Edit String dialog box, under
Value data, type 240075, and then click
OK.
- Repeat steps 7 through 9 for the following registry entry:
2002
HKEY_USERS\<SIDKEY>\Software\Microsoft\Visio\Application\GpImageControl
2003
HKEY_USERS\<SIDKEY>\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application\GpImageControl
2007
HKEY_USERS\<SIDKEY>\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Visio\Application\GpImageControl
Note <SIDKEY> is a placeholder for your logon SIDKEY. The SIDKEY resembles the following: S-1-5-21-2127521184-1604012920-1887927527-541443
To determine the correct SIDKEY for your login, look in the ProfileImagePath subkey of the keys that are located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList. If the value of ProfileImagePath subkey contains your logon name, its corresponding key is your SIDKEY. - In Registry Editor, locate and then select the following
registry entry:
2002
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Visio\Application\GpTextControl
2003
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application\GpTextControl
2007
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Visio\Application\GpTextControl
- On the Edit menu, click
Modify.
- In the Edit String dialog box, under
Value data, type 10000, and then click
OK.
- Repeat steps 7 through 9 for the following registry entry:
2002
HKEY_USERS\<SIDKEY>\Software\Microsoft\Visio\Application\GpTextControl
2003
HKEY_USERS\<SIDKEY>\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Application\GpTextControl
2007
HKEY_USERS\<SIDKEY>\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Visio\Application\GpTextControl
- On the File menu, click
Exit.
- Restart your computer.
Note This workaround may cause the text to lose its formatting and
spacing if the Word object is rotated, except at 90 degrees, 180 degrees, and
270 degrees.
