How to import into OneNote 2007

OneNote 2007 supports a variety of ways to import information into your notes. You can insert documents and files. You can also paste screen clippings from other programs.

Another way to import information is to use the print driver that is automatically installed with OneNote 2007. The print driver lets you send information from any computer file to a page in your OneNote notebook as if you were "printing" the information to that page instead of sending it to an actual printer.

To import, or to "print," a document or file into OneNote in this manner, follow these steps:
  1. Open the document or file that you want to import into OneNote in the program in which it was created. For example, open Microsoft Word for document files and Microsoft Excel for Excel workbooks.
  2. On the File menu, click Print.

Note Some third-party programs do not follow Microsoft Windows interface guidelines. Therefore, printing commands may have different names and may be in different locations than are described in these steps.
  3. In the Print dialog box, select Send to OneNote 2007 as the printer, and then click OK.

Note When you print a file to OneNote by using the OneNote print driver, a copy of the file's contents is inserted. OneNote does not maintain a link to the source file. If the source file is later updated, those changes do not appear in your notes.
To set OneNote print driver options, follow these steps:
  1. Open the document or file that you want to import in the program in which it was created.
  2. On the File menu, click Print.

Note Some third-party programs do not follow Windows interface guidelines. Therefore, printing commands may have different names and may be in different locations than are described in these steps.
  3. In the Print dialog box, click Properties.
  4. In the Send To OneNote 2007 Properties dialog box, specify the page size and orientation that you want, and then click OK.
