Session Summary

Friday, November 14, 2003

This Support WebCast will give you a brief tour of the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET environment, but will focus on Visual C++ .NET. It will also explain some of the common pitfalls you may see when writing C and C++ code. The session will also discuss some of the features that will make your life easier as you learn about C and C++. This session will also talk about how to take advantage of the power of Visual C++ .NET.

If you are trying to learn the basics of C and C++, you want to know how to create class and header files; how to build the application after you write it; what a constructor is and where to use it. Because you are learning C and C++, you may not care about Microsoft Foundation Classes, ActiveX Template Library, or Managed Extensions for C++ yet. You just want to know how to make Visual C++ .NET work for you.

This is a Level 200 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=gp;en-us;webcastlevels&sd=gn) session that will be presented by Zach Kramer. Zach Kramer has been with Microsoft for more than two years now and has experience coding in several Web-based languages. He is currently on the Visual C++ Developer Support team. He also has experience with Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Basic .NET, C#, MFC, ATL, and Visual C++.
