To enable mail logging, follow these steps for your version of Outlook.
Microsoft Outlook 2013 and Microsoft Outlook 2010
- On the File tab, click Options.
- In the Outlook Options dialog box, click Advanced.
- In the Other section, select the Enable troubleshooting logging (requires restarting Outlook) check box, and then click OK.
- Exit and then restart Outlook.
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.
- Select the Enable logging (troubleshooting) check box, and then click OK two times.
Enable logging through the registry
You can also enable the mail logging option by making a change in the registry. To do this, follow these steps.

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
- Click Start, type regedit in the Start search box, and then click regedit.exe in the Programs list.
- In Registry Editor, locate the following subkey for Outlook 2010:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<1x.0>\Outlook\Options\Mail
Note In this subkey, <1x.0> represents the program version number ("15.0" = Outlook 2013, "14.0" = Outlook 2010, "12.0" = Outlook 2007, "11.0" = Outlook 2003). - In the right pane, right-click EnableLogging, and then click Modify.
- In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, type 1 under Value data, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
You can track failures in the Application log by making a change in the registry. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, type regedit in the Start search box, and then click regedit.exe in the Programs list.
- In Registry Editor, locate the following subkey for Outlook 2007:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\
Locate and then select the following subkey for Outlook 2003: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
- Type CancelRPC, and then press Enter to name the key.
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type EnablePerfTracking, and then press Enter to name the DWORD.
- In the right pane, right-clickEnablePerfTracking, and then click Modify.
- In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, click Hexadecimal, and then type 1b under Value data.
- Click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
