No shapes are returned in the search results after you install the Visio 2003 MUI Pack on your computer

SYMPTOMS

After you install the Microsoft Office Visio 2003 Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) on your computer, you may find that when you search for shapes in Microsoft Office Visio 2003, no shapes are returned in the search results.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if all the following conditions are true:

The MUI Pack is installed to a non-default location on your computer.
The Visio 2003 user interface is configured to use the language of the MUI Pack that is installed on your computer.
The Indexing Service is not running on your computer.

For example, this issue may occur if you search for shapes in the Japanese version of Visio 2003 on a computer that is running the English version of Microsoft Windows XP, and you install the English MUI Pack to a location on your computer that is different from the default installation location of the MUI Pack.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do one of the following, as appropriate to your situation:

Start the Indexing Service. To do so, follow these steps.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. In the left pane, expand Services and Applications.
3. Right-click Indexing Service, and then click Start.
Remove the MUI Pack, and then reinstall it to the default location.
