"Please insert your Zoo Tycoon CD-ROM" error message when you start Zoo Tycoon

After you install Microsoft Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs, Micrososft Zoo Tycoon: Marine Mania, or Microsoft Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection and then insert the Microsoft Zoo Tycoon disc to start the program, you receive the following error message:

After the expansions packs are installed, you must use the expansion pack disc to start the program.

Insert the Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs disc, the Zoo Tycoon: Marine Mania disc 2 disc, or the Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection disc to start the Zoo Tycoon game. Although you insert a different disc to start the game, the content from the original Zoo Tycoon program is still available.
