When you run the DS/IS consistency adjuster, some Access Control List information for your public folders and for your mailboxes is lost in Exchange Server 5.5

You may experience the following problem after you move public folder data and mailbox data from one Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 site to another Exchange Server 5.5 site. When you run the DS/IS consistency adjuster, some Access Control List information for your public folders and for your mailboxes is lost.

To resolve this problem, obtain the November 2004 Update Rollup for Exchange Server 5.5. The hotfix that is described in this article is included in this update. File information

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This update implements the following changes in Exchange Server 5.5:

• When an unknown LegacyExchangeDN attribute exists in a public folder Access Control List, the DS/IS consistency adjuster performs an X.500 search. The DS/IS consistency adjuster performs the X.500 search in the Exchange Server 5.5 directory service to try to locate a match for the unknown LegacyExchangeDN attribute.
  • If a match for the unknown LegacyExchangeDN attribute is located, the DS/IS consistency adjuster updates the public folder Access Control List with the new LegacyExchangeDN attribute from the new object.
  • If a match for the unknown LegacyExchangeDN attribute is not located, the DS/IS consistency adjuster removes the unknown LegacyExchangeDN attribute.
• After this update is installed on your Exchange Server 5.5 computer, the other processes can determine that your Exchange Server 5.5 computer has the new DS/IS logic.
