Attachments to e-mail may not be sent in Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook

SYMPTOMS

An e-mail message that is generated in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM 1.2 Sales for Outlook and that has an attachment that is larger than 1 megabyte (MB) may not be sent correctly. Sometimes the message and the attachment are sent as expected, and at other times the message is sent without the attachment. If the attachment is not sent, you receive the following error message:

When you try to send e-mail messages that have attachments that are larger than 4 MB, you may receive the following error message:
Server Error in '/' Application
Microsoft CRM 1.0 Sales for Outlook is hard coded to not allow attachments greater than 5,242,880 bytes.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
