SYMPTOMS

When you try to set the size of the paging file on your Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer to a value that is between 2 megabytes (MB) and 16 MB, Windows Server 2003 calculates its own value for the size of the paging file.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because in Windows Server 2003, the minimum value that you can set the paging file size to is 16 MB. If you set the paging file size to a value that is less than 16 MB, Windows Server 2003 will calculate a value for the size of the paging file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

MORE INFORMATION

In the Virtual Memory dialog box, the value in the Minimum allowed box is 2MB. This is not correct.
