A USB printer that is connected to a USB 2.0 PC card adapter does not work

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print to a USB 2.0 printer that is connected to your computer through a USB 2.0 PC card adapter, your print job may not print, and you may not receive an error message.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you are using the Ricoh USB 2.0 PC card adapter.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, disable the USB enhanced host controller.

Note When you disable the USB enhanced host controller, you lose USB 2.0 functionality, and you have USB 1.1 functionality.

To disable the USB enhanced host controller, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
  2. Under Computer Management (Local), click Device Manager.
  3. In the right pane, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  4. Right-click the USB enhanced host controller, and then click Disable.

    Note The name of your enhanced host controller may vary.
  5. When you receive the confirmation message, click Yes.
  6. Close Device Manager.
