SUMMARY

This article describes the Microsoft Office 2003 Resource Kit issue that is fixed in the Office 2003 Resource Kit hotfix package that is dated February 10, 2004.

Issues that are fixed in the hotfix package

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package but was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

A custom transform (MST) file does not copy additional files to user profile folders that were redirected to the network in Office 2003. For more information about this issue, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Note This software update will not fix this issue if you are redirecting user profile folders, such as the Application Data folder, the Desktop folder, or the My Documents folder.

If you want to add some files to a computer during installation, you need to add the Office Profile Settings (.ops) file which includes the configuration to add files to your computer in a custom transform. When you install Office 2003 with this custom transform by using Custom Install Wizard, the installation of Office 2003 may fail with an Error 1603.

Note This problem may occur if the added file already exists on the computer where you are installing Office 2003 and the Created date is significantly earlier than the Modified date of the existing file. When this scenario occurs, the added file is not copied and the custom action that verifies that the added file was not corrupted during installation does not complete successfully. This causes a critical failure.

The name of the custom action that does not complete successfully will start with OCW_Verify_ as shown in the following sample:

Earlier in the log, you may find an entry that shows an added file that did not copy that is similar to the following log entry:
