Forms-based authentication on the WoodgroveNet sample site is unsuccessful when SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and WoodgroveNet are installed on the same virtual Web site

SYMPTOMS

Forms-based authentication on your WoodgroveNet sample site may not work if Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server (SPS) 2003 is installed on the same virtual Web site.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the SPS 2003 installation changes the Web.config file for the virtual Web site. When SPS changes the Web.config file, Forms-based authentication does not work.
