SYMPTOMS

When you click Projects in Microsoft Office Project Web Access 2003 after you upgrade from Microsoft Project Server 2002 to Microsoft Office Project Server 2003, you may find that some projects are not listed on the Project Center page.

CAUSE

The issue may occur if the both of the following conditions are true:
  • The Project Server 2002 database contains duplicate projects.
  • Some duplicate projects are not assigned task ID values when the Microsoft Project Server database is upgraded from Project Server 2002 to Project Server 2003.
In this situation, the projects that do have task ID values in the Project Server database are not displayed on the Project Center page in Project Web Access 2003.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the Delete Duplicate Projects command-line tool (DupeProj.exe) to look for and to remove duplicate projects from the Project Server 2002 database. Use this procedure before you start the upgrade operation from Project Server 2002 to Project Server 2003, or use this procedure if you already started the upgrade operation from Project Server 2002 to Project Server 2003 but you have not yet run the scripts to upgrade the Project Server 2002 databases. After you remove the duplicate projects from the Project Server 2002 database, upgrade Project Server 2002 to Project Server 2003.

To obtain the Delete Duplicate Projects tool, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, republish the project to Project Server 2003. Use this procedure if you already completed the upgrade operation to Project Server 2003 and you cannot roll back to the Project Server 2002 database. To republish the project to Project Server 2003, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Office Project Professional, and then connect to Project Server 2003.
  2. On the Collaborate menu, point to Publish, and then click Project Plan.
  3. In the Publish Project Plan dialog box, click Project plan with summary, and then click OK.
