This article describes the Microsoft Office Excel 2003 issues that are fixed in the Excel 2003 hotfix package that is dated March 5, 2004.

Issues that are fixed in the hotfix package

The following issues are fixed in this hotfix package, but were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • When the last measure that is included in a PivotTable in Microsoft Excel that is attached to an Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) cube is blank, you may receive the following error message:
    Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
  • When you try to save a workbook or when you quit Excel 2003, you may receive the following error message:
    Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    When you view the details of the error message, you receive an error signature that is similar to the following:
    App Name   App Version  Module Name  Module Version  Offset
    -------------------------------------------------------------
    Excel.exe  11.0.5612.0  Ntdll.dll    5.2.3790.0      0001d61b
    
    This problem may occur if the workbook contains a template (.xlt) that contains a picture in the header of the template.
