Error Signature

This article describes a program error that can have the following error signatures:

Additionally, other offsets are possible.

You may receive this error signature when you use one of the following languages as your user interface language in the English version of Microsoft Office Publisher 2003:
Arabic
Chinese Standard
Chinese Traditional
Korean

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start Microsoft Office Publisher 2003, the program may stop responding, and you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Microsoft Publisher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Publisher. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you try to use the English version of Publisher 2003 with the beta version of a non-English Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain an updated Microsoft Office 2003 MUI Pack.

For Enterprise and Select customers, contact your company's license administrator.

Note The Microsoft Office 2003 MUI Pack is not available to retail customers.

WORKAROUND

If you do not have the Microsoft Office 2003 MUI Pack, you can change your user interface to use the English language. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings.
2.In the Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings dialog box, click the User Interface and Help tab.
3.Under Display Office 2003 in, click English (US), and then click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

The Office Error Reporting dialog box appears when an error occurs that causes a fatal event in the program. The dialog box includes a button to send the information about the fatal event to Microsoft. Microsoft gathers information about these types of events in a database to try to identify the cause.
