Client computers cannot obtain a permanent Windows 2000 Terminal Services Client Access License (CAL) from a Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services Licensing server
On This PageSYMPTOMSClient computers that connect to a Microsoft Windows 2000-based Terminal Services computer cannot obtain a permanent Windows 2000 Terminal Services Client Access License (CAL), although Windows 2000 Terminal Services CALs are installed on the Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services Licensing server. CAUSEThis problem may occur when the Terminal Services CAL was not upgraded or renewed correctly, and the client computer receives a temporary Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services CAL. The temporary Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services CAL is not upgraded to a permanent Windows 2000 Terminal Services CAL. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
