Crash memory dump file created is different from the type selected in Windows 2000 Startup and Recovery settings

SYMPTOMS

When a crash dump file is generated, Microsoft Windows 2000 will try to generate a Complete Memory Dump. This scenario occurs even though you selected the Small Memory Dump (64 KB) option or the Kernel Memory Dump option in the Write Debugging Information section of the Startup and Recovery settings. These settings are located on the Advanced tab of System Properties.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the Windows 2000-based computer has more than 2 gigabytes (GB) of RAM.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information
