"<UserName> - user of this name already exists but NT accounts do not match" event ID error message is logged when you synchronize the Enterprise Resource Pool with Active Directory in Project Server 2003

In Microsoft Office Project Server 2003, when you synchronize the Enterprise Resource Pool with Active Directory, an event error message that contains the following description may be logged to the application event log:

This issue may occur if the user account was moved to a different domain.

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods, depending on your situation.

Method 1: Check out the Enterprise Resource Pool in Project Professional 2003 and update the domain name of the user account

In Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003, check out the enterprise resource pool, and then change the domain name of the user account. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Start Project Professional 2003, and then log on to Project Server 2003.
2. On the Tools menu, point to Enterprise Options, and then click Open Enterprise Resource Pool.
3. Click the name of the resource that you want to modify, click Read/write to check out, and then click Open/Add.
4. On the View menu, click Resource Sheet.
5. Right-click a column in the resource sheet, and then click Insert Column.
6. In the Column Definition dialog box, in the Field name box, click Windows User Account, and then click OK.
7. In the cell in the Windows User Account column, specify the user account name and use the correct domain name.
   
   For example, type the following, where DomainName is the name of the domain and UserName is the name of the user:
   DomainName\UserName
8. On the File menu, click Close.

Method 2: Update the domain name of the user account in Project Web Access

In Microsoft Office Project Web Access 2003, change the domain name of the user account. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Log on as administrator to Project Web Access 2003.
2. Click Admin, and then on the Administration overview page, click Manage users and groups.
3. On the Users page, click the user who you want to modify, and then click Modify user.
4. On the Modify User page, in the User Account box, change the user account entry to use the correct domain name.
   
   For example, type the following, where DomainName is the name of the domain and UserName is the name of the user:
   DomainName\UserName
5. Click Save Changes.
