Symptoms

When you try to use the Route.exe command-line tool on your Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, you receive an application error that is similar to the following:
ROUTE.EXE - Application Error
The instruction at "0x77fcb032" referenced memory at "0x00000000".
The memory could not be "written".

Cause

This problem may occur if the debug code in the Rasapi32.dll file is triggered. This may cause problems with tools that use this .dll file and that are not multi-threaded, such as Route.exe. Route.exe is designed for a single-threaded model.
