Printers on a cluster are not published in Active Directory in Windows Server 2003

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows Server 2003, printers are not published from the spooler resource cluster. Therefore, users cannot search the Active Directory directory service for available printers on a cluster.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the spooler does not retrieve the security identifier (SID) of the cluster user's account when the spooler queries the Active Directory.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
