On This PageSYMPTOMSOn your computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, many event messages that are similar to the following are logged in the application log in Event Viewer: Event Type: Error
CAUSEEvent 12002 is a generic IMAIL error. This error event may appear if a user tries to access an e-mail message that has become corrupted. Exchange Server logs this error during typical operation, even if the diagnostic logging level is set to None on the Exchange server.
Therefore, the application log on your Exchange server may contain many of these events. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
