SYMPTOMS

When you write data from a Microsoft Windows 2000-based client computer to a shared folder on a Windows 2000-based server over a Fibre Channel connection, the write operation may be performed more slowly than expected. You do not experience these symptoms during local write operations.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you overwrite an existing file in the shared folder. For example, this problem may occur if you open the file in the shared folder from the remote client computer and then save a new version of the file to the server. During the remote write operation, Cache Manager performs an additional read operation before data is written to the hard disk. The additional read operation causes slower than expected performance.
