Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry On This PageSUMMARYWhen you try to run Adaptec Easy CD Creator or Adaptec DirectCD on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, the Adaptec program may not run and you may receive Stop error messages on a blue screen. This issue occurs because certain versions of Easy CD Creator and DirectCD are not compatible with Windows 2000. This article describes four methods that you can use to resolve this issue:
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to work with Easy CD Creator 4.01 or earlier or DirectCD 3.0 or earlier in Windows 2000, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
CAUSEThis issue may occur if either Easy CD Creator 4.01 or earlier or DirectCD 3.0 or earlier is installed on a Windows 2000-based computer. Easy CD Creator 4.01 or earlier and DirectCD 3.0 or earlier are not compatible with Windows 2000. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, use one of the following methods. Method 1You can use this method if you receive a Stop error message when you upgrade a computer that is running Windows NT 4.0 Workstation to Windows 2000 Professional and either Easy CD Creator or DirectCD is installed. You may also use this method if Easy CD Creator and DirectCD are installed on a Windows 2000-based computer and you cannot start your computer in Safe mode.
Method 2You can use this method if you receive a Stop error message when you try to run Easy CD Creator or Direct CD on a Windows 2000-based computer, and you cannot start your computer in Safe mode.
Method 3You can use this method if you receive a Stop error message when you try to run Easy CD Creator or DirectCD on a Windows 2000-based computer and you can start your computer in Safe mode.
Method 4Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.You can use this method if you receive a Stop error message when you try to run Easy CD Creator or DirectCD on a Windows 2000-based computer and you can start your computer in Safe mode.
MORE INFORMATIONThe Aspi32.sys version 4.01 file and the Cdr4vsd.sys file are loaded when you start your computer. These files are not compatible with Windows 2000.
