Licensing Wizard was unable to install the client license key pack. Please verify your entry and try this operation again. Message Number 0x13A7. The following event ID error message may be logged in the application event log: Event ID: 41
CAUSEThis problem may occur for one or more of the following reasons:
RESOLUTIONCause 1: You are trying to install a Windows Server 2008 CAL pack on a Windows Server 2003-based license serverA Windows Server 2008-based terminal server cannot communicate with a Windows Server 2003-based Terminal Services licensing server. However, a terminal server that is running Windows Server 2003 can communicate with a licensing server that is running Windows Server 2008.To resolve this problem, you must configure a Windows Server 2008-based computer as your licensing server. Cause 2: You are trying to install a Windows Server 2003 CAL pack on a Windows 2000-based license serverBecause you cannot install a Windows Server 2003 CAL pack on a Windows 2000-based license server, you must use one of the following options to resolve this problem:
Cause 3: The Terminal Services Licensing component is corrupted or missingIf the Terminal Services Licensing component (Tls236.dll) is corrupted or missing, remove the component and then reinstall it. To do this, use the following two-part procedure.Note The resolution that is described in Part 1 and Part 2 of following section will require that the Terminal License Server be reactivated and the License Key Packs be reinstalled. Microsoft support will help repair the corrupted component, but to activate and install the licenses, you must telephone the Clearinghouse at (888)571-2048. How to deactivate or reactivate a license server by using Terminal Services licensing
MORE INFORMATIONYou can install the existing Windows Server 2003 terminal server CALs on a Windows Server 2008 licensing server. The Windows Server 2008 licensing server issues CALs to the corresponding terminal servers based on the operating system of the terminal server. For example, if you have both Windows Server 2008-based and Windows Server 2003-based terminal servers in the network, a Windows Server 2008-based licensing server issues the correct CAL to each terminal server based on the operating system that the terminal server is running.
