On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you open or when you save a Microsoft Office 2003
document and browse folders that reside on a domain-based Distributed File
System (DFS) share, there may be a delay of between five and fifteen seconds
before the File list box is populated with files and folders
for the Open dialog box or for the Save as
dialog box. CAUSEThis problem may occur if the LAN Manager does not
immediately authenticate the domain-based DFS shares. When this problem occurs,
the Multiple Provider Router (Mpr.dll) queries other name providers to
authenticate the DFS share. Each query takes five seconds to run before the
query is denied. RESOLUTIONService pack informationTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Windows XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:322389
