You receive the "Setup failed to configure the server" error message when you try to install the Business Contact Manager add-in for Outlook 2003

When you try to install the Microsoft Business Contact Manager add-in for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, the installation is not completed successfully, and you may receive an error message that is similar to the following: The following error message may also be recorded in the event viewer application log:

This issue occurs if previous Business Contact Manager installation information exists in the following location:

To resolve this issue, follow the steps that are in the following procedures in the order that they are presented.

• Rename the file that is in the Data folder to file_name.old. To do so:
  1. Locate the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM\Data\ folder.
  2. Right-click any files that are in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM\Data\ folder, and then click Rename.
  3. Change the file name extension of the file to .old.
  4. Try to install the Business Contact Manager add-in for Outlook 2003.
• Rename the Data folder. To do so:
  1. Locate the :\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM\ folder.
  2. Right-click the Data folder, and then click Rename.
  3. Rename the folder to Data-old.
  4. Try to install the Business Contact Manager add-in for Outlook 2003.
• Rename the MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM folder. To do so:
  1. Locate the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\ folder.
  2. Right-click the MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM folder, and then click Rename.
  3. Rename the folder to MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM-old.
  4. Try to install the Business Contact Manager add-in for Outlook 2003.
