INTRODUCTION

You can use Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 to install multiple server operating systems on a single computer by using virtual machines. Virtual Server 2005 is built with multithreaded services that are optimized for the Intel Architecture 32-bit (IA-32) hardware architecture.

This article lists the operating systems that Virtual Server 2005 can run on.

Note Microsoft provides support for running Virtual Server 2005 R2 on a Windows Vista-based computer or on a Windows XP-based computer in a non-production development or test environment.

•Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition
•Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 Standard Edition
•Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition
•Microsoft Windows XP Professional
After you install Virtual Server 2005, you can configure multiple virtual machines on the computer.
