On This PageSYMPTOMSThe QoS RSVP service may start on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Server. The QoS RSVP service starts even if you are not using Quality of Service (QoS) in your network. You may notice that the QoS RSVP service is running when you view system reports. For example, if you use the Microsoft Configuration Capture Utility, you may notice that the QoS RSVP service is running. Also, an event that is similar to the following may be logged in the system log: Event ID: 10047
CAUSEThis problem occurs because the Windows Management service starts the Rsvp.exe process and keeps the Rsvp.exe process running even if you are not using QoS. The Rsvp.exe process is the process that corresponds to the QoS RSVP service. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA newer version of this hotfix is available. For additional information about the newer hotfix, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:889405 A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
