You cannot manage Virtual Server 2005 from a different domain or forest

This article describes the support for cross-forest or cross-domain authentication in Microsoft Virtual Server 2005.

Virtual Server 2005 does not currently support management operations from a different Active Directory directory service forest or from a different domain.

If you try to manage a Virtual Server host computer or a Virtual Server virtual machine from a client computer that is located in another domain or forest, you experience one of the following behaviors:

• When you try to access the Virtual Server Administration Website Web page, you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
  Access is denied.
• When you try to access the Virtual Server Administration Website Web page, you are prompted for your user name and password information. However, when you enter your user name and password information, this information is not accepted and you are repeatedly prompted for your credentials.

Virtual Server 2005 does not currently support a form of pass-through authentication to permit you to manage Virtual Server from a client computer that does not belong to the same domain where the Virtual Server computer is located.
