FIX: Cannot obtain a new IP address from the DHCP allocator

SYMPTOMS

When a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server is implemented, such as for a wireless router, clients cannot obtain new IP addresses from the server. This problem occurs if the range of client IP addresses is changed while the server is running.

RESOLUTION

Software update information

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows CE 4.2 Core OS QFE 841104. To resolve this problem immediately, click the following article number for information about obtaining Windows CE Platform Builder and core operating system software updates:

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole operating system. To perform a clean build of the operating system, follow these steps:

On the Build menu, click Clean.
On the Build menu, click Build Platform.

You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this update.
