SYMPTOMS

If you configure Microsoft Windows Server 2003 to host user profiles on a drive or on a drive partition other than the system drive partition, after you start Windows Server 2003, the %HOMEDRIVE% environment variable points to the system drive partition instead of to the drive or to the partition that the user profiles are hosted on.

Additionally, the System event log may generate an event message that is similar to the following event message when 16-bit Windows applications such as Sysedit.exe try to run:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Application Popup
Event ID: 26
Description:
Application popup: Application Error: WOWEXEC caused a General Protection Fault in module KRNL386.EXE at 0003:0557. Choose close. WOWEXEC will close.
