SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server to index a Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002 site, the indexing process may take a long time to complete. You only notice this issue all three of the following conditions are true:
  • You have resources or attachments on posting placeholders.
  • The resource or the attachment file has a Web page file name extension (for example, .html, .htm, .xml, .asp, or .aspx).
  • The resource or the attachment file contains relative links to another file that has a Web page file name extension.
One example of such a resource or an attachment file is a Microsoft Office thicket file. An Office thicket file is a Microsoft Word document that is saved in HTML format.
