Article ID: 841461 - Last Review: October 26, 2006 - Revision: 1.9 An extended operation that is sent to an LDAP server by API over the LDAP service causes a protocol error
On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you try to use an API over the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) service to send an extended operation to an LDAP server, the request does not complete correctly and you receive a protocol error. CAUSEThis problem occurs because if optional data is not included in the API call, the data item is sent, but it indicates that the length is 0 (zero). Many operations require that data is not sent with the API call. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft.
