You receive the "The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection" error message when you click Send/Receive in Outlook 2002

SYMPTOMS

When you click Send/Receive in Microsoft Outlook 2002, you receive the following error message:
Task 'mail server address - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x8007026F) : 'The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the connection type for your e-mail account is incorrect. Additionally, this issue also occurs after you install a different type of Internet connection, such as Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu in Outlook 2002, click E-mail Accounts.
  2. Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
  3. Click your e-mail account, and then click Change.
  4. Click More Settings.
  5. On the Connection tab, click Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN), and then click OK.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Click Finish.
