A POST operation to an HTTP server may be unsuccessful if more than 16 KB of data is sent

SYMPTOMS

When Microsoft Internet Explorer sends data to an HTTP server by using the POST method, Internet Explorer may not complete the operation if more than 16 kilobytes (KB) of data is sent.

Internet Explorer uses buffers that are 16 KB. When more than 16 KB of data is sent, the part of the packet that exceeds 16 KB is put in a second buffer. This second buffer may not be sent to the server because the calculation of the data incorrectly determines that the packet fits in the first buffer.

Prerequisites

This fix is supported only when all previously issued fixes for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of all the operating system. To do this, follow these steps:

On the Build menu, click Clean.
On the Build menu, click Build Platform.
