You receive the "One or more errors occurred in the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate" error message when you add a Windows SharePoint Services Web site that uses SSL to a Project Web Access site that also uses SSL

When you use Project Web Access 2003 to add a Windows SharePoint Services Web site that uses SSL to your Project Server 2003 Web site that also uses SSL, you receive the following error message:When you log on to Project Web Access, you receive one of the following Security Alert dialog boxes:

• You receive a Security Alert dialog box that contains the following messages:
  • An exclamation mark on a yellow background that appears next to the following message:
    The security certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust. View the certificate to determine whether you want to trust the certifying authority.
  • A check mark on a green background that appears next to the following message:
    The security certificate date is valid.
  • A check mark on a green background that appears next to the following message:
    The security certificate has a valid name matching the name of the page that you are trying to view.
• You receive a Security Alert dialog box that contains the following messages:
  • A check mark on a green background that appears next to the following message:
    The security certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust. View the certificate to determine whether you want to trust the certifying authority.
  • A check mark on a green background that appears next to the following message:
    The security certificate date is valid.
  • An exclamation mark on a yellow background that appears next to the following message:
    The security certificate has a valid name matching the name of the page that you are trying to view.

This issue may occur if either of the following conditions is true:

• The certificate is not added to the trusted root certification authority. In this case, an exclamation mark on a yellow background is displayed next to the following message in the Security Alert dialog box:
  The security certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust. View the certificate to determine whether you want to trust the certifying authority message.
• The name of the certificate does not match the name of the Web site that you want to view. In this case, an exclamation mark on a yellow background is displayed next to the following message in the Security Alert dialog box:
  The security certificate has a valid name matching the name of the page that you are trying to view message.

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods, depending on your situation:

Method 1: Install the certificate

If the certificate is not added to the trusted root certification authority, install the certificate. To install the certificate, follow these steps:

1. In the Security Alert dialog box, click View Certificate.
2. In the Certificate dialog box, click the Certificate Path tab.
3. Click the General tab, and then click Install Certificate. The Certificate Import wizard starts.
4. Click Next.
5. On the Storage page, click Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate if it is not already selected, and then click Next.
6. On the Completing the Certificate Wizard page, click Finish.
7. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to install the certificate, click Yes.
8. When you receive the message that the import operation was successful, click OK.
9. In the Security Alert dialog box, click Yes.

Note If the certificate is installed correctly, the Security Alert dialog box does not appear on the screen the next time that you visit the Web site. If the Security Alert dialog box does appear on the screen the next time that you visit the Web site, make sure that the following conditions are true:

• The certificate is installed correctly on the computer.
• The name of the certificate is correct, and the name of the certificate matches the name of the Web site that you want to view.

Method 2: Create a new certificate that matches the name of the Web site that you want to view

If the name of the certificate does not match the name of the Web site that you want to view, create a new certificate that matches the name of the Web site that you want to view. After you create a new certificate, install the certificate by using the steps that are described in the "Method 1: Install the certificate" section.
