When you perform a mail merge in Microsoft Office Word 2003 by using the Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Contacts folder as the source for the mail merge, Word 2003 will search all the mounted personal folder (.pst) files in Outlook 2003 for Contacts folders. This search may take longer than expected, depending on the size and the number of .pst files that are mounted in Outlook 2003.

This problem was first fixed in a hotfix that is now contained in a service pack. If you installed the latest Office 2003 service pack, you do not have to install the hotfix.
