Session Summary

Wednesday, June 2, 2004

This Support WebCast session is appropriate for enterprise developers, and architects who want to move toward a services-oriented architecture by using .NET Framework, but have to take advantage of existing investments in line-of-business applications that run on IBM mainframe and midrange systems. Host Integration Server 2004 Transaction Integrator (formerly COMTI) permits Windows developers to publish and extend business rules in mainframe (CICS and IMS) and AS/400 programs using Visual Studio .NET. The session will discuss how to import COBOL and RPG to efficiently publish XML Web services, without knowing SNA networking. The WebCast will drill down into host-initiated processing, an innovative new technology that permits a Windows Server computer to function as a peer to IBM mainframe and AS/400 computers.

This is a Level 200 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=gp;en-us;webcastlevels&sd=gn) session presented by Steve Smaller and Valerie Thomas.

Steve Smaller has more than eight years with the Host Integration Server team, five years as the team's test manager, and more than three years as a program manager.

Valerie Thomas is an escalation engineer for Host Integration Server and has supported Microsoft application integration to host systems for five years. Before that she was a mainframe systems analyst working with COBOL and FORTRAN. Valerie has a degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics and has earned the MCSE+I and MCSD certifications.
