An error occurs in Taskmgr.exe

SYMPTOMS

When you open Task Manager in Microsoft Windows XP, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Task Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience
If you view the data that the error report contains, the following error signature may be listed: 
App Name App Version Module Name Module Version Offset
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
taskmgr.exe 5.1.2600.1106 ntdll.dll 5.1.2600.1217 00000342

CAUSE

This problem may occur if a previous installation of a service pack was not completed successfully.

RESOLUTION
