"System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the registry key is denied" error message when you call the eConnect_EntryPoint method

SYMPTOMS

When you try to call the eConnect_EntryPoint method, you receive the following error message:

"System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the registry key is denied."

The error may occur even if the person who performs the operation is an Administrator on the system.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the current user does not have the correct permissions for the following key in the Windows registry:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Component Categories\{62C8FE65-4EBB-45e7-B440-6E39B2CDBF29}

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, modify the permissions for this registry key according to the instructions in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article:
