SYMPTOMS

When you use a virtual machine in Microsoft Virtual Server 2005, the only sound you hear is the hardware speaker beep.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Virtual Server 2005 cannot emulate a sound device. Therefore, Virtual Server 2005 cannot detect a sound device other than the hardware speaker.
