INTRODUCTION

The Exchange Server 2003 SP1 Recover Mailbox Data Feature technical bulletin is now available.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 introduced the Recovery Storage Group feature. With this feature, a second copy of a mailbox can be restored to any server in the same administrative group and then mounted. In Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the Recover Mailbox Data feature is introduced. With this tool, you can move recovered mailbox data from the second copy of the mailbox to the production mailbox store. You no longer have to use ExMerge to move recovered mailbox data from the Recovery Storage Group to the regular storage group after you have restored a mailbox store to the Recovery Storage Group. In most recovery cases, the Recover Mailbox Data wizard replaces ExMerge functionality.
