Question:

I am trying to access the UPR30300 table with Microsoft Access to update records and append new records to the table. When I try to modify a record, I receive the message, "This Recordset is not updateable." I am using Pervasive ODBC 32 drivers. What is causing this error?

Answer:

In this case, the table UPR30300 is a table without a unique key (like the GL20000 table). When linking, MS Access prompts you to choose key fields. No key fields were chosen and MS Access did not allow updates to the table. To resolve tihs problem, try choosing a number of fields to create a unique key for the table. For the UPR30300 table you could select AUCTRLCD, EMPLOYID, PYRLRTYP and PAYROLCD.
