You receive an "Error in formula This field name is unknown" error message when you try to configure certain report filters in Microsoft CRM 1.2

SYMPTOMS

When you create a report in Microsoft CRM 1.2, the report is successfully generated. However, if you configure a filter for this report, you receive the following error message when you click Filter:
Error in formula. This field name is unknown.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • You are running the French version of Microsoft CRM 1.2.
  • You configure certain report filters in the Microsoft CRM Report Viewer dialog box.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
