SYMPTOMSWhen you open a Microsoft Excel for Windows workbook in Microsoft Excel 2004 for Mac, the yen character may appear as a backslash (\). CAUSEThis problem may occur if the yen symbol is formatted in the MS UI Gothic font in the Excel for Windows workbook. Excel 2004 for Mac does not include this font. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, change the font to a Japanese font that is included in Excel 2004 for Mac. Note You can use any Japanese font that is available in Excel 2004 for Mac.
