SYMPTOMS

When you run a Transact-SQL query to fetch data from a table by using the WITH INDEX option, you may receive an access violation exception. This problem may occur if all the following conditions are true:
  • In the FROM clause of the query, you specified an index hint that refers to one or more indexes that are defined on the table.
  • In the WITH INDEX option, you specified the names of the indexes instead of the corresponding index IDs.

Restart information

You must restart your instance of SQL Server 2000 after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix file information
