SYMPTOMS

When you try to add an Active Directory directory services users group to the Subscribers role in Microsoft Content Management Server (CMS) 2002, the following error message may be logged in the event log:
Event ID 1006

Description: The operation cannot be completed because it would put the server in violation of the Standard Edition License restrictions.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
