You receive an "Internal Server Error" error message or a blank page when you click links on the Windows Update Web site in Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1

When you visit the Microsoft Windows Update Web site by using a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1, one or both of the following scenarios may occur:

• When you click a link on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site, you receive the following error message:
  HTTP Error 500 - Internal Server Error, Error 0x8ddd0010
• When you click the View installation history link, or you click the Details link for a specific update, you receive a blank page, and you may be notified that a pop-up window has been blocked.

To visit the Microsoft Windows Update Web site, start Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then visit the following Microsoft Web site:

This behavior may be caused by the Microsoft pop-up blocker or by a third-party pop-up blocker.

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods as appropriate for your situation.

Method 1: Configure the Microsoft pop-up blocker

If you are using a Microsoft pop-up blocker, configure the pop-up blocker to enable pop-up windows from the Windows Update Web site. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
3. In the Address of Web site to allow box, type http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com, and then click Add.
4. Click Close to close the Pop-up Blocker Settings dialog box.

Method 2: Configure a third-party pop-up blocker

If you are using a third-party pop-up blocker, configure the pop-up blocker program to allow pop-up windows from the Windows Update Web site.
