You cannot connect to a DNS server by using the DNS snap-in on a Windows 2000 Server-based domain controller

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) DNS snap-in to connect to a DNS server on a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based domain controller that has Service Pack 4 (SP4) installed, you cannot successfully connect to the DNS server. Additionally, a red X appears over the DNS server name.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information
